Lesson: God’s love is big enough for the world – and for us to keep inside us.
Bible Passage:
Tell the children you are looking for a box big enough to hold God’s love. Ask a confederate in the Congregation if they have a box big enough to hold God’s love. Someone will offer the Xerox paper box you planted with them earlier. Take it, look inside and tell the children, “No, this isn’t the right size.” Ask if anyone else has a box and accept the larger box that is offered. Again, examine it and declare, “No, this isn’t going to work either.” Finally, as one last time and have someone bring in a refrigerator box. Look it over, ask the kids if it is the right size, get inside it, invite them to get inside it… and then declare it is not the right size.
Then pull a tiny box out of your pocket. Tell the children, “A-ha! THIS is the right size to hold God’s love. Because no matter how big God’s love may be, it is something we can always carry with us.” Distribute tiny boxes to the children, so they can carry God’s love with them.
