Message: Remember God
Bible Passage: (Many – Research “Remember” or Ten Commandments or Sermon on the Mount)
In this case, I was traveling in San Antonio, Texas – home of The Alamo – and managed to purchase some commemorative coins. You don’t need the coins to deliver the “punch line” – Remember the Alamo. Keep in mind also that the line may ring better with the adults than with the children.
I had a chance last week to visit a city in Texas. In this city, there is a building that was intended to be used as a chapel – a place to pray and hold worship services. Even though this building was erected over 200 years ago, it was never used as a chapel. Eventually, the military took it over and then it was ignored and now it is a tourist area.
I think we are a lot like that building. God put people on earth to worship and celebrate God. But from the very beginning, we forgot and got into fights and wars did everything we could to hurt each other. When we are not fighting, we tended to forget about God or we amused ourselves with other things, on TV or movies or games or each other.
I want you to always remember that, like the chapel that was built over 200 years ago, our purpose here is to celebrate God and to live the life God taught us to live. We must remember the Ten Commandments that God gave us and we must remember Jesus’ order to “Love our Neighbors.” And to help you remember these things, I have coin with a picture of the chapel and a slogan on the back, so that you will always be able to “Remember the Alamo.”
