Many churches have an Easter Egg hunt before or after the Easter worship. This ties in very well with that. You will need the largest plastic eggs you can find. Most nurseries will sell small, flowering ground cover plants. Put these plants – or a small actual flower, if you can – inside the egg, so it can close.
Do you know why we have eggs as part of our Easter celebration? Because when we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, we are celebrating new life. An egg represents that new life, but these are very special eggs. Because when you open this egg (open egg, wait for gasps from the kids, “oohs and ahhs” from the adults) you can see how beautiful this flower is inside it. And that is what Jesus wants from us – to celebrate a life that is growing and beautiful. Each one of you can have an egg to take home and remind you of the joy that comes in knowing and living in Christ.
