Giving Thanks II

Lesson: Live your life as God wants you to live your life

Bible Passage: Genesis 1 (Creation story), Micah 6:8 (Show mercy), Matthew 25: 36-40 (Feed the hungry), Leviticus 19:18, Matthew 22:34-37, and others (Love your neighbor)

In the Bible, we learn that God tell us to take care of God’s earth. And we respond by picking up litter, not wasting water and bringing a canvas bag for groceries when we go to the market with our folks. And God says, “Thank you.”

God said, “Feed the hungry” and we respond by donating food to the Food Closet and, when we’re old enough, helping out at Loaves and Fishes (a local shelter). And God says, “Thank you.”

God says “Love your neighbor” and we respond by holding the door open for others and picking up after ourselves and reaching out to help lift someone up. And God says, “Thank you.”

And we say, “You’re welcome. We are glad for the opportunity to serve, because as long as we take care of the earth, we will have parks and lakes to play in. And as long as we take care of others, that blessing gets passed on and on and may, someday, come back to us. And as long as we love our neighbor, we will live in God’s presence and know the love and peace of Jesus Christ.”

And to God, who gives us all these things, we say “Thank you.” And because we know our God is a loving God, do you know what God says?

“You’re welcome.”
