Lesson: God gives us challenges
Bible Passage:
This Moment requires Sequoia Tree seeds, which can be purchased online. You may want to have a few for demonstration or enough to give one to each person. Only the seed of a Sequoia will work for this Children’s Moment.
Do you see this little seed? This thing is smaller than your fist. It is the seed for certain type of tree. Yet from this tiny seed grows the largest living thing on earth – more massive than an elephant, bigger than a whale, huge-er than me after a church potluck! From this little seed will grow a Sequoia Redwood, which can be over 300 feet tall – taller than a 30 story building!
Yet, the only way this seed can produce a tree is when it is opened up by the intense heat of a fire. Without that fire, such as in a forest fire, this seed remains just as it is – no gigantic skyscraper of a tree; just a nice little seed.
Some day, God may challenge you with a test of fire. Something bad may happen or you may be tempted to do something that you know is wrong. But if you follows the rules that you are taught and remember who loves you most, you will pass that test and grow into the mightiest creature on earth – a Child of God who knows the love of Jesus Christ.
