God Loves All God’s Creatures

BIBLE PASSAGE: Genesis 1, Luke 10:37-42 (Mary and Martha)
MESSAGE: God loves all of God’s creatures, no matter what they look like

This Moment can be done with any type of animal. In this example, I used a lizard, a tortoise, and a dog.  Thanks to Christine and Evan for their help and Sunny, Copernicus and especially Buddy, without whom this Moment wasn’t possible. No animals were hurt in the production of this Moment. See to it that you can say the same.

(Pulling a lizard in his safe container out of a box) Do you see this little creature? Small, kinda creepy looking? Do you think God loves this creature?

(Produce a tortoise from hiding) Look at this odd animal. Do you think God loves this creature?  Of course God does.

(Have a dog who will come when you call. And when you call the dog, do NOT use the microphone, as the dog should come to the sound of your voice. Someone will need to be holding the pup until s/he is called) Do you think God loves THIS creature?

Who else does God love? If God can love a little lizard or a big ol’ turtle or this pup, you know God can love you too. So if you are ever lonely – it’s okay to be lonely – or sad or feeling bad, remember how much you are loved. Just like Christ loved both Mary and Martha who had different gifts, so does God love you in all your ways.

Let’s say a prayer and thank God for the great love we have been shown in God’s son, Jesus the Christ. And for this great gift and blessing, we say “thank you” and “amen.’
