Lesson: Jesus is always with you.
Bible Passage:
You will need a Slinky. If you have a Dollar Store, you might be able to find the smaller Slinkys there, to give away, but use a larger Slinky for the Moment. And, yes – I know Slinky is trademarked by Hasbro.
Holding the Slinky hidden in your hand, show just the top coil. Ask “Do you know what I have here? This is Jesus. Well, not Jesus for real, but a representation of Jesus. For instance, (begin gently pulling out the coils) we think we know Jesus, but there is so much more to him than we will ever understand.
(Hold Slinky in both hands, bouncing them back and forth) With Jesus, things are always in balance, even though sometimes we may not think so.
(Ask a Child to hold one end of the Slinky) With Jesus, no matter how far away we may try to get away from him, (back up while you say this – then tell the Child to “Let go!) he will always be with us.
And finally, (have another child hold the Slinky. Wrap the Slinky around the entire group) Jesus’ love will always surround you.
That is why (gather Slinky again) this represents so many wonderful things about Jesus.
(Close in prayer)
Ask “Who would like one of these reminders of Jesus’ love for us?” (Hand out Slinkys and go to Sunday School).
