Lesson: The Bible is a book filled with amazing stories that matter to us today
Bible Passage:
(NOTE: When this Moment was written, the Harry Potter books were still being published. You can use Harry Potter; Lord of the Rings; The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe or any other book that is appropriate.)
Hold a Harry Potter book above your head, so they can clearly see the title, and tell the children you have a story of excitement, loyalty, faith and magical things. Then look at the book and say, “Oops! Wrong book.” Then get a Bible and tell them you have a story of excitement, loyalty, faith and magical things. (Feel free to steal the line from the movie “Princess Bride” – “Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles…”)
There are so many stories in here, you should make it your bedtime reading. But for now, let’s go to Sunday School and learn more about it.
