Lesson: We are forgiven
Bible Passage: Romans 3:19-28
Message: When we do something wrong (sin), Jesus allows us to say, “I’m sorry.”
When we do something wrong – we hurt someone, we tell a lie, we are rude to our family – all these things are wrong to God.
But because Jesus came and took all our mistakes – some people say “sins” against God’s commandments – Jesus loves us so much he came and chose to take all those mistakes onto himself.
We are forgiven.
That doesn’t mean it is okay to do things that get us into trouble. But when we slip – we say a bad word or do a bad thing – we know Jesus forgives us. We still need to say “I’m sorry” to the person we hurt, but after we fix our mistake, we want to remember to say “Thank you” to Jesus. “Thank you for the love you have for us. Thank you for taking my mistake and forgiving me for it. And thank you for allowing me to be a Child of God, who knows what is right and tries every day to live your lesson of love and peace – in everything I say and everything I do.”
It’s easier just to try and not do hurtful things to others or to God. But when we do, we want to remember that God loves us so much And there is nothing we can do to change that. So we might as well just love God back.
